Last Updated: August 2026
Zehra Jaffer, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CDCES, is a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and healthcare provider authorized to provide advanced clinical care to patients in the State of Texas. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. In her role as an advanced practice provider, she evaluates patients, develops treatment plans, manages acute and chronic medical conditions, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, provides preventive care, and performs other clinical services within the scope of her Texas APRN licensure.
Zehra Jaffer is not a physician or medical doctor (M.D. or D.O.). Certain aspects of her practice that require physician delegation under Texas law are performed pursuant to appropriate physician delegation and supervision in accordance with the Texas Occupations Code, including § 157.001, and applicable Texas Board of Nursing requirements.
Zehra Jaffer’s delegating physician is Syed Shahid, M.D., a physician licensed by the Texas Medical Board. When Zehra Jaffer prescribes or orders medications or medical devices requiring delegated prescriptive authority, she does so pursuant to a prescriptive authority agreement and physician delegation in accordance with Texas Occupations Code § 157.0512.
Nothing in this provision is intended to diminish Zehra Jaffer’s status as a licensed healthcare provider or advanced practice provider. Rather, it accurately reflects the respective professional roles and responsibilities of an APRN and a physician under Texas law.
